The Texas community is mourning the death of Grace Hannah Zwernemann, a 28-year-old paramedic whose career was dedicated to helping others. Zwernemann died on December 16, 2025, leaving behind family, colleagues and friends who described her life as one centered on service and compassion.
Zwernemann was born October 17, 1997, in Brenham, Texas, and graduated from Giddings High School in 2016. She went on to attend Texas A&M University, graduating early in December 2019 with a bachelor’s degree in allied health.
Her commitment to emergency medical care began while she was still in college. She completed EMT training through TEEX and later graduated from paramedic school in August 2022. She worked with St. Joseph’s for five years, progressing from EMT to paramedic and serving patients throughout the region.
Colleagues described Zwernemann as someone who brought empathy and professionalism to her work. Her role as a paramedic allowed her to help people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives, and her family said her desire to serve others remained an important part of who she was.
Outside of emergency medicine, Zwernemann enjoyed spending time with her family, playing sports, hunting, fishing and being outdoors. She was also passionate about Aggie football, her Jeep Wrangler and Harley-Davidson motorcycles. Her love of animals included her dogs Remmington and Ruger.
Her death also prompted expressions of grief from members of the emergency medical community. Robertson County EMS publicly mourned Zwernemann as one of their own, reflecting the impact her passing had on fellow first responders.
Zwernemann had been making plans to move to South Carolina to attend nursing school, continuing the career of caring for others that had defined much of her adult life. Her family said her passion for serving others never ended.
She is survived by her father, Michael Zwernemann and his wife Karen; her mother, Michelle McCowan and her husband Shawn; her brother Cody Zwernemann and his wife Kimberly; her sister Laura Miller and her husband Joshua; as well as her niece, nephews, grandparents and extended family.
Funeral services were held in December 2025 in the Caldwell and Deanville communities. Her family requested memorial contributions to local first-responder and EMT/paramedic organizations, Special Olympics or a local Christian church.
Grace Zwernemann’s death has left a lasting void among the people who knew her and the emergency-services community she served. Her life was marked by a commitment to helping others, and her family and colleagues continue to mourn the loss of a young paramedic whose career was devoted to caring for those in need.
