Hollywood Hills High School was placed under lockdown Thursday morning as police investigated a reported threat near the campus, prompting a significant law-enforcement response and renewed concern among students, parents and staff.
Police officers, including K-9 units, were seen at Hollywood Hills High School at 5400 Stirling Road and nearby Stirling Elementary School. No evacuation was initially carried out as officers investigated the situation.
The Thursday lockdown marked the second time in three days that both schools had been placed under lockdown. On Tuesday, an unspecified threat reported in the area prompted authorities to secure the campuses as a precaution. That earlier incident eventually ended with an all-clear after police determined there was no credible threat.
Authorities issued an all-clear Thursday at approximately 10:45 a.m., according to WSVN, bringing the latest lockdown to an end. No evacuation was reported during Thursday’s incident, and police have not disclosed additional details about what prompted the new lockdown while the investigation continues.
The developments come just days after Hollywood Hills High School faced another serious security incident involving a reported bomb threat. On September 1, police responded to a threat near North 56th Avenue and Stirling Road, and the school was placed under lockdown while officers conducted a detailed search. Students were subsequently evacuated to athletic fields as authorities continued their assessment.
That earlier threat was ultimately determined not to be credible, and students were released following the investigation. Police said the campus had been rendered safe, while authorities continued efforts to identify the person responsible for making the threat.
Thursday’s incident has nevertheless heightened concerns among families, particularly because it occurred so soon after Tuesday’s lockdown. Officials have emphasized that reports involving possible threats are treated seriously and that emergency procedures are activated to protect students and staff while officers establish whether a danger exists.
As of the latest confirmed update, the lockdown at Hollywood Hills High School has been lifted and authorities have given the all-clear. The investigation into what prompted Thursday’s police response remains ongoing.
